Investors stuck in the sand

As I haunt the FB group every now and then, I come across an “alarming” comment:

“Launch Control has completely shut down all texts to all carriers!! Here’s a list of companies still sending out text.”

I have no idea how true this is and I’ll probably find out soon, since today, coincidently, I have a call with the CEO — I have no idea what it’s about; my guess is re-branding or they need a hired “gun” or some new product/service.

But as investors are scrambling to get their cold texts out for lead gen…

This brings up a problem I see with business owners (and I’m guilty of one of these)…

They’re either:

  1. So far in the weeds in their business they can’t see the horizon (for example they can’t see that SMS is coming to an end for cold blast texting and aren’t preparing for it)

  2. They’re too busy staring at the horizon to notice the problems in the weeds (for example, the “We Buy Ugly Houses” franchise sending direct mail to NEW homeowners.)

(I keep getting their postcards every other month since I bought the property — 6 months ago)

Even if you’re a solopreneur it pays to:

… evaluate your past deals (see what worked, what happened, what didn’t work) and learn from it

… Think ahead and ask: What’s next? And what should I do today?

The SMS circus is one such “horizon” (that’s not very far) that everyone should be changing in their business.

In BOTH lead generation and follow-up.

(And don’t think: “Oh I’m safe if I just text manually to follow up”… wrong. The carriers can easily block you too and will.)

So what’s the solution?

Build a legitimate business that operates with legitimate lead gen sources (mail, classified ads, radio and TV… and referrals)

Make sure you’re following the rules — with SMS.

Most of my clients have NOT reported any slowdown with their delivery of SMS (One said he removed the word “cash” from the messages and it worked better)

If you need consulting  on this, and or a drip sequence plugged… reply back
